INDUSTRIAL / LOFT

The new trend toward smaller living spaces, condos and apartment homes asks for cleaner lines and more natural furnishings
and utilitarian materials.

INDUSTRIAL

The Palecek Showroom at Las Vegas World Market features more examples of how the Industrial look can be fun and imaginative. Love the rope light fixtures and iron clad mirror.

WHITE IS BACK

White is back! As pictured here, cool neutrals lend a sophisticated look. Also, white walls can be paired with bright colors for a fresh and new ambience.

adding pops of color

BRIGHT BLUE OR...

Bright blue or turquoise hues add a punch to greyed neutrals. Add bright animal prints for a touch of whimsy.

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

This year's trends emphasizes our continued awareness of environmental issues and our desire to improve our economy. This year brings our focus more towards Eco-friendly and utilitarian design with more sustainable furniture and fabrics.

EXOTIC & EASTERN

We will be seeing more exotic and eastern designs, colors of the earth, variety of textures, and cleaner lines; combining mother nature with modern design.

Some of last years trends remain strong and will continue into this year, such as reclaimed wood finishes, Eco-friendly materials, eastern flair, and black & white.

GREEN IS CHIC AND HERE TO STAY

All of us are becoming more conscious of our environment, we at Kathleen Barlow Interiors included.

What that means for us is that we are stewards of our environment and homes. We seek to reduce energy consumption and also reduce contaminants to our homes and work places. One way to do this is by using materials that use less energy to make and sustain.
Also we try to use local resources whenever possible to cut the cost and energy consumption of shipping from long distances.

Today at the current design markets and shows we are seeing more energy conscious and “Green” furniture, fabrics and flooring than ever before. Here is a list of just a few “Green”products:

  • Flooring and furniture made with reclaimed wood
  • Bamboo (which is completely renewable) furniture and wallcovering
  • Antiques or repurposed furniture
  • Solar Panels
  • Energy Efficient windows and doors

At Kathleen Barlow Interiors we can be your partners in creating a “green” and “clean” environment in your home or workplace.
